KUWAIT CITY: His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday hailed Kuwait’s support for Bahrain in political and economic fields as the two countries signed five landmark agreements.
“We have a clear-cut stance towards Kuwait, summarised in the fact that what affects Kuwait affects Bahrain,” HRH the Premier said after key talks between Bahraini and Kuwaiti delegations, led by HRH the Premier and his Kuwaiti counterpart Shaikh Nasser Al Mohammed Al Sabah.
He stressed the kingdom’s keenness to further develop relations in all domains and to take practical steps to boost them.
Shaikh Nasser affirmed the deep-rooted relations between the two countries and said that Bahrain is part of Kuwait and Kuwait part of Bahrain.
Five agreements were signed in the fields of consumer protection, industrial ownership protection, tourism, youth and sport and cultural and technical programmes.
HRH the Premier said that the talks will open new horizons of co-operation between the two countries.
Later, he held a meeting with a number of women belonging to the Kuwaiti ruling family.
He reminded them of the historical bonds linking the Gulf’s peoples and families, especially the Bahraini-Kuwaiti relations which were established by forefathers through intensive interaction and passed on to later generations.
He also hailed the prominent position of Kuwaiti women in the community, something that has been encouraged by Kuwaiti Amir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, who empowered them to reinforce their presence in nation-building and other political and social domains.
He called for stronger co-operation and interaction between Kuwaiti and Bahraini women.
